Sri Devaraj Urs College of Nursing (SDUCON) is a branch of the Sri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust (SDUET), which was founded by a group of philanthropic, devoted, and service-minded individuals for the rural and backward communities, led by Sri. R.L. Jalappa. The Trust established the nursing school, which grants a Diploma in General nursing and Midwifery, in 1995 with the intention of giving students a quality education and training.

The four-year B. Sc. nursing degree program at Sri Devaraj Urs College of Nursing was established in 1998 to keep up with the rapidly advancing health and nursing sciences. In order to satisfy the demands of professional nurse educators, leaders, administrators, and researchers, the institution has advanced its nursing curriculum. In 2006, a postgraduate degree program in masters in nursing was launched including five specialties. A two-year post-certificate degree program was established in 2011 for people who already have a diploma in general nursing or midwifery.

The Karnataka Nursing Council (KNC) and Indian Nursing Council (INC) have recognized the College of Nursing on May 10, 1999 and October 3, 1998, respectively. Bangalore, Karnataka’s Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences is associated with the college (as of 06/07/1998).

A well-planned and documented process is followed by the college to ensure effective curriculum delivery, including Internal Quality Audits conducted according to the curriculum set forth by the INC and RGUHS. In order to enhance the quality of the curriculum, ICT enabled teaching is used, which incorporates departmental-specific teaching modules, Standard Operating Procedures, as well as the “Gyan-bhandar” learning resource. The college provides flexibility in meeting the various demands of students by assigning the specialism in accordance with their preference in PG courses. According to the requirements of the RGUHS curriculum, both formative and summative assessments are utilized to evaluate student teaching and learning.

B.Sc. and M.Sc. nursing admissions are handled by management quotas and government quotas, respectively. Admission for post-basic B.Sc. nursing programs is through the management quota.

Admissions are based on First Come First Serve for Management seats. Through RGUHS counselling, government seat distribution is carried out. Candidates might accept admission to the college with an allocation letter from the university following counselling.
