Admission in Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine & Surgery – BAMS

Ayurveda schools in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and other South Asian nations grant the professional degree of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) in Ayurveda. After five and a half years of education, which includes an internship, it is certified. After registering with the government-approved licensing organization, a BAMS graduate is qualified to practice Ayurveda in Sri Lanka and India.

One can continue general practice after earning a BAMS degree, seek advanced education (M.s. master of surgery in Ayurveda, certificate programs, or Masters in Public Health), or engage in clinical or epidemiological research. Additionally, there are opportunities for employment in healthcare management and health monitoring. In several European nations where the BAMS degree is not recognized, there are few possibilities for higher study. Ayurveda is not part of the national health system outside of South Asian nations, and it is illegal to practice it unless the practitioner also has a license for providing contemporary medicine in some states.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The applicant must have obtained at least a 50% grade in each of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English in the intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent examination recognized by the respective State Government and Education Board. The combined scores in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the aforementioned qualifying test in the case of the general category and 40%. For Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, marks.
  • In the case of persons with disabilities candidates specified under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (49 of 2016), the minimum qualifying marks in the said qualifying examination in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology shall be 45% in the case of the general category and 40% in the case of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes.
  • No candidate shall be admitted to the B.A.M.S. Degree Course unless he or she has attained the age of seventeen (17) years on or before the 31st December of the year of admission in the first year of the course and not more than twenty-five (25); provided, however, that the upper age limit may be relaxed by five years in the case of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and physically disabled candidates.
  • The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), which will be administered by a body authorized by the Central Government, will serve as the standard entrance test for all medical schools at the undergraduate level each academic year.
  • A candidate must have a minimum of 50th percentile marks in the “National Eligibility Entrance Test for Undergraduate Course” administered for the specific academic year in order to be eligible for admission to an undergrad program.
